Opportunities
- Join a leading renewable energy company in this fast growing sector.
- Manly office (with ocean views!) - enjoyable hybrid environment, with great benefits.
- Permanent, full-time, immediate start.
The opportunity
Reporting directly to our Chief Legal Officer this role will provide critical legal support across our portfolio, including our operational Bomen Solar Farm and our growing pipeline of solar, wind, and BESS projects across the National Electricity Market.
You will be involved across the full project lifecycle, drafting, reviewing, advising and negotiating across the spectrum of legal issues and contracts related to development (including land agreements, grid contracts and PPAs), financing, construction, and operations.
This hands-on role will offer the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams and external advisors and stakeholders in a fast-paced and purpose-driven environment.
What we’re looking for
- The successful candidate will have worked for several years (>8 years) in private practice or in-house environments on major infrastructure projects (ideally renewable energy projects) and have a deep understanding of the legal issues and contracts relevant to bringing a project through its development phase into construction, and then operation.
- Substantial experience advising on, drafting and negotiating contracts in a range of the following areas is required: land agreements, project approvals, procurement/construction contracts, grid connection contracts, PPAs, M&A agreements and project finance agreements. That is, the successful candidate will come ready to hit the ground running in key workstreams.
- This role will also support our operational Bomen Solar Farm in relation to asset management, O&M and related contractual advice.
- Experience with government contracts (especially LTESAs, CISAs or Access Rights agreements), will be well regarded.
- Experience with governance and compliance activities (e.g. NER, SOCI, FIRB) will be well regarded.
- You thrive in a fast paced, agile environment without compromising attention to detail and the quality of your work. Your communication skills, both verbal and written are strong.
- You are comfortable taking ownership of your deliverables and you work just as well in a team as you do autonomously, and you have a flexible approach to change. You are collaborative by nature and are willing to tackle multiple tasks and to support larger or more complex matters as they present which may include extended and complex negotiations.
- You approach your role with a low ego, high integrity growth mindset, striving to develop your own skillset, and being alive to finding opportunities for the company to refine its systems and processes to optimise its efficiency and productivity – we welcome innovation (including the use of AI) and seek candidates who show initiative and bring a desire to achieve best practice.
