Council Critical Capital Works Fund

Spark Renewables will provide direct community funding for critical capital works led by local councils. The payments will be made under a Voluntary Planning Agreement worth more than $23 million, benefitting communities in the Murrumbidgee Council and Edward River Council areas.

Spark Renewables is developing the Dinawan Energy Hub, consisting of a wind farm, solar farm and battery energy storage system, located approximately 30 kilometres south of Coleambally and 30 kilometres north of Jerilderie, NSW.

The fund has been established as part of the Voluntary Planning Agreement to support council-led critical capital works identified through the councils’ Community Strategic Plans.

The Council Critical Capital Works Fund will contribute $8,659,035 in the first stage of the Dinawan Wind Farm, which will involve the installation of 357 megawatts of wind generation capacity. Funding will continue throughout construction and the 30-year operational phase.

Commitments to the Council Critical Capital Works Fund include $8,489,250 in stage two of the Dinawan Wind Farm and $6,604,500 for the solar hybrid project.

As part of the Dinawan benefit-sharing program, the Council Critical Capital Works Fund will support capital works projects such as:

  • Town medical centres
  • Pre-schools
  • Critical worker housing initiatives
